WeGovy®

WeGovy® is an FDA-approved weekly injection for adults who are overweight or obese. It contains semaglutide, a GLP-1 receptor agonist that mimics a natural hormone in your body to regulate appetite and support weight loss.

WeGovy®:

• Slows digestion to help you feel full longer
  
  
• Reduces cravings and lowers calorie intake
  
  
• Helps control blood sugar and supports insulin function
  
  
• Works alongside physical activity and a reduced-calorie diet
  
  

This makes it effective for both weight reduction and helping patients manage conditions linked to obesity, like cardiovascular disease and type 2 diabetes.

Ozempic® comes in a prefilled pen with a simple needle for once-weekly self-injection. Your provider will show you how to use it correctly, and the dose may be increased over time based on how your body reacts.

Common side effects include:

• Nausea
  
  
• Upset stomach or constipation
  
  
• Fatigue
  
  
• Diarrhea
  
  
• Bloating or stomach flu-like symptoms
  
  

These usually improve as your body adjusts to the medication.

You should not take WeGovy® if you:

• Have a personal or family history of medullary thyroid cancer
  
  
• Have multiple endocrine neoplasia syndrome type 2
  
  
• Are pregnant or planning to be
  
  
• Are allergic to semaglutide or other GLP-1 receptor agonists
  
  

⚠ WeGovy® comes with a boxed warning due to risks found in animal studies. Always review the medication guide with your provider.

Let your provider know if you:

• Take any other prescription medications or over-the-counter medicines

   

• Use herbal supplements or weight-loss products

   

• Have a history of kidney disease, pancreatitis, or heart problems

   

• Have experienced adverse reactions to other injectable drugs

   

Are currently taking Wegovy®, Mounjaro®, or Rybelsus®

1. It’s not for use with other semaglutide-containing products (like Ozempic)
   
   
2. WeGovy® is not approved for treating type 1 diabetes
   
   
3. It’s a long-term commitment—it’s not a quick fix
   
   
4. Diet and movement still matter, even on medication

Tell your provider if you:

• Take other prescription medications or over-the-counter medicines
  
  
• Use herbal supplements or weight-loss products
  
  
• Have a history of gallbladder issues, thyroid tumors, or pancreatitis
  
  
• Experience low blood sugar while taking insulin or sulfonylureas
  
  

Have had adverse reactions to other injectable prescription medicines
